Forest of the past

The title derives from the solo exhibition Welcome to the forest of the past of 2009, and groups the visually related series of works from 2007- 2015

Many of them are drawn paintings that combine layers of acrylic paint with detailed drawings, using pitt artist pens or acrylic ink. Some of them have various metallic grey as part of the layers. Photography with minimal digital editing has been used as information for the stories in the paintings, some from natural settings while others more staged. The models are people familiar to the artist, and sometimes reoccurring. These works were never intended as portraits, although there is perhaps an unavoidable element of portraiture and identification when using people in your surroundings. In retrospect the works may have become more personal than intended, and show chapters of life and time, in addition to having visual stories of their own.
